Waveland is charming, peaceful, and has some of the most private beaches on the MS Gulf Coast. To perverse this family-oriented vibe, today, Waveland is the only city on the MS Gulf Coast prohibiting commercial buildings on its beachfront but dont fret, there is always something to do in or around the area. Waveland offers many annual family events such as the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Wave Fest, Trunk or Treat on Coleman, Nereids Parade, several annual carnivals and Buccaneer State Park.
Buccaneer State Park was at one time, where President Andrew Jackson once lived and was later named Jackson Ridge which eventually became the park that it is today. It is now one of the most popular attractions for families who live in the area. Buccaneer State Park is located in Waveland off of Beach Blvd and has over 400 acres of fun in the sun including Mississippi’s largest wave pool, two water-slides, an 18-hole disk golf course, nature trails, and camping.
Minutes from the Buccaneer State Park is Coleman Avenue. Coleman is where you would have found the original “down town” area of Waveland. At the foot of Coleman Avenue is the HUGE Garfield Ladner Pier which extends 860 feet into the Gulf of Mexico. Day in and Day out you can find fishermen and/or fisherlaides catching massive fish or just relaxing at the end of this peir. Between the pier and the beach is the beautiful Veteran’s Memorial Monument built in honor of all Vets and it is a must see if you are in the Waveland area.
Since Waveland prohibits commercial builds near its beaches and unlike most other beaches on the MS Gulf Coast, Highway 90 is far from the beach shore, one of the best attributes Waveland has to offer is its quite and safe beaches. Unfortunately, since Katrina, the down town commercial development in Waveland has been slow but keep in mind, even though Waveland hasn’t rebuilt as quickly as Bay St Louis, the taxes tend to be a bit lower in Waveland and the Bay is just a short golf cart ride down the beautiful white sand beach. Yes! The Bay / Waveland area allow golf carts to be driven on the roads. So hop on your golf cart and take an open air, breathtaking ride down the beach.

Buccaneer State Park
Buccaneer State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Mississippi. It is located off U.S. Highway 90 and Beach Boulevard, straddling the line between Waveland and Clermont Harbor. The park sits on the Gulf of Mexico and was entirely rebuilt after all its buildings were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. www.BuccaneerStatePark&Waterpark.com
Bay Waveland Schools
Waveland and Bay St Louis combine their Schools. All Bay / Waveland children complete Waveland Elementary before moving to Bay Middle for 6th -8th and then Bay High School from 9th to 12th. Below is a link to the public-school district but there are also private school options.

Fishing Activity
One of the most popular things to do in Waveland is fish. Sportsmen from other states and locals love to fish in and around Waveland MS. You will find many locals relax and fish off the sea wall near Clarmont Harbor, many floundering on the beach at night, and Sportsmen heading out into the Gulf to bring back monster sized Redfish, Balck Drum, and more.
